Shannon Crawley, a former Guilford Metro 911 dispatcher was found guilty of killing Denita Smith, a NCCU graduate student on Jan. 4, 2007. After over a 2 week trial and about 7 hours of deliberation, jurors found Shannon Crawley guilty of 1st degree murder. Judge Stephens sentenced Crawley, a mother of two, to life in prison without parole. Crawley contended that she had a relationship with Jermeir Stroud, fiance of Smith, and that he stalked her and killed Smith. Crawley’s lawyer Holmes says he plans to appeal the verdict.
