Durham Wants Its Own Welcome Sign At RDU

Durham Next, a local nonprofit, is working to install a “Welcome to Durham” sign at Raleigh-Durham International Airport’s Terminal 2.

The goal is to spotlight Durham as a dynamic hub within the Triangle and the broader South, giving travelers a taste of what the city has to offer. Susan Amey, CEO of Discover Durham, says the sign is meant to be a source of pride for locals and a spark of curiosity for visitors, encouraging them to explore Durham’s iconic landmarks.

The sign will feature prominent local attractions and will be shaped in part by community input, with a survey helping decide which landmarks to highlight. It will also promote Durham as the “best place to live, work, and visit.”
