R. Kelly was rushed to Duke University and hospitalized after allegedly overdosing on medication given to him by prison staff while serving a 30-year sentence for racketeering and sex trafficking in North Carolina.

His lawyers claim he was given an overdose of anxiety and sleep medications while in solitary confinement. Kelly was taken to a hospital for two days but was returned to prison against medical advice.

His lawyers say he needs surgery for blood clots in his lungs and could die without it.
