Recently the NC House Education Committee voted 27 to 16 in favor of a proposal that would direct the State Board of Education to replace Common Core standards for math and language arts. The recommendation comes after hearing concerns from both teachers and parents. Gov. Pat McCrory has spoken publicly in favor of Common Core. Currently, Common Core has been accepted by more than 40 states.
