Someone broke into an officer’s home on Tuesday and stole “a few” Durham Police Department uniforms, handcuffs and a Taser weapon, according to spokeswoman Kammie Michael. The officer also is missing jewelery, electronics and a puppy, according to police. The suspected burglar did not take the officer’s gun, badge or radio. The department recommends that anyone unsure of an officer’s identity ask to see photo identification, or call 911 or a police supervisor to verify an officer’s identity.
