Campus police shot and killed a man near North Carolina Central University’s campus late last night after the man challenged them with a gun. Officials locked down the campus at about 10:15 p.m. Police found the man in a wooded area near Cecil and Lincoln streets and challenged them with a gun. Campus police responded by shooting the individual. The lockdown was lifted at about 1:15 a.m. Campus police said the gunman said that victim was not a student at the university. It wasn’t clear why Durham police were looking for him.
