The landmark Racial Justice Act allowed convicted murderers to have their death row sentences reduced or challenged if they could prove that racial bias influenced the outcomes of their cases…. such as racism in the jury etc…

Yesterday Gov. Pat McCrory signed a repeal to do away with this law and critics say this will restart the death penalty in NC where an inmate hasn’t been executed within 7 years.

Republicans say the law was poorly crafted and that it has allowed nearly all of the death row inmates to pursue an appeal because of race regardless of their color.

Democrats argue that the ones that have filed an appeal have plenty of evidence that juries were raciall biased.
