Officials announced that despite chilly and wet weekends the 2009 NC State fair had record attendance. The previous record 856,611 was set in 2007. The attendance for 2009 was 877,941 making it the most attended in fair history.
Spokesman Brian Long said that 104,370 people visited on the final day of the fair Sunday, bringing the total attendance to 877,941.
The fair enjoyed a stretch of sunny, warm weather in the middle of last week, and set five single-day attendance records for Tuesday, the first and second Thursdays, and the last Sunday.
