Do you think this was the right decision?
If you go out and eat regularly then it is pretty much understood that if you come in with a party of a certain amount of people then your server will explain that there will be a gratuity added to your check.
This incident involved a party of 20 at Applebee’s and the customer didn’t think it was fair to have to give the waitress an 18% tip, since as they put on the receipt, “I only give God 10%, so why should I give you 18% and then signed it “Pastor.”
The waitress was amazed by the receipt and showed it to a coworker, took a picture of it and posted it on the web. She titled the post, “My mistake sir, I’m sure Jesus will pay for my rent and groceries.” The post gained immediate popularity and received over 4,000 comments.
The waitress says she posted it as a light-hearted joke she thought others would laugh at, but the Pastor wasn’t laughing and returned to Applebee’s the next day and demanded that many be fired.
Everyone requested didn’t get fired but the girl who posted the story did.
In the meantime the Pastor told Smoking Gun, that she is heartbroken over the incident, saying, “I’ve brought embarrassment to my church and ministry.”
