Authorities said Friday that a two year old boy who was kidnapped from his SilerCity home by his more than six years ago has been found in Texas. Edwin Sanchez Gonzalez was only 2 years old when his father, Jorge Sanchez Aguilera, kidnapped him on Oct. 1, 2006, and fled to Mexico.
Authorities reported that Aguilera and several masked men broke into the mother’s home and tied her up with duct-tape. He took the boy and threatened to kill the child if she called police. Aguilera was convicted last month on three counts of first-degree kidnapping and one count each of first-degree burglary and second-degree kidnapping in the case.
Authorities said Aguilera was arrested in Mexico in 2010 and later extradited to ChathamCounty in November, but authorities had never been able to find Edwin until now. The boy was in U.S. custody and the boy’s mother Coria was flying to Texas Friday afternoon to be reunited with him.
