The state Board of Education will take a final vote Thursday on adding five days to the state’s school calendar and creating a 185 day school year.

Many school districts across the state have asked the Board to make those extra days teacher work days. Nearly 80 school districts have asked for waivers.

Tuesday, Board of Education Chair Dr. Bill Harrison said he is not inclined to recommend approving any waivers. Thursday’s vote will take place during the full board meeting.
