Wake County is hosting a clinic for anyone interested in getting a flu shot.

Vaccinations will be available Thursday, October 7, 2010, from 5 to 9 p.m., in room G35 of the Public Health Center, 10 Sunnybrook Road, Raleigh.

No appointment is necessary and the cost is $30.

However, people in the following groups can be vaccinated at no cost:

  • Pregnant women
  • People with Medicare Part B
  • Children who qualify for the federal government’s Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program

The vaccine protects against seasonal flu and H1N1 and is available in both nasal and shot form.

To qualify for vaccines under the VFC program, children must be under 19 years of age and one of the following:

  • Uninsured
  • Underinsured
  • Medicaid recipient
  • American Indian or Alaskan Native
