The East Carolina Pirates football team gave their fans what they have been long waiting for, a win.

Junior quarterback Blake Kemp was in the zone and passed for a career-high four touchdowns and threw a personal best 465 yards. The Pirates showed no mercy and slashed the UCF Knights 44-7 Thursday evening at Bright House Networks Stadium.

Kemp’s effort helped the Pirates end a three game losing streak and gives the team hopes of making it to a post season bowl game. The Pirates need one more victory to be bowl eligible. Their last game of the season against the prolific Cincinnati Bearcats will determine the Pirates fate. If they win the game this Saturday on Senior Night the Pirates will most likely be in a bowl game, lose and they spend the holiday at home watching other college teams play in bowl games.

The season for the pirates has been riddled with injury’s that has put a damper on the high expectations of an outstanding 2015 season. Now the (5-6) team is fighting for its bowl life and to continue the streak of consecutive bowl games.

East Carolina Pirates final regular game of the season will be next Saturday at Noon inside Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium against the Cincinnati Bearcats.
