Here’s more about Pastor McLamb

Strong Warrior on the Battlefield for the Lord! The Bentonville Church Family would like to nominate Elder Michael “Deron” McLamb as the Light’s Pastor of the Month. Elder Michael “Deron” McLamb was born to the late Marvin Clifton and Sarah Ann McLamb in New York, New York. Since childhood, Elder McLamb has been involved in the church. He spent most of his adolescent and teenage years in Newburgh, NY, where he attended Mt. Carmel Church of Christ Disciples of Christ, under the leadership of Pastor and founder, Bishop G.W. Johnson. While in attendance at Mt. Carmel, Elder McLamb performed various duties, including President of the North Eastern Assembly District Disciples of Christ Youth Fellowship (D.C.Y.F), president of the local D.C.Y.F.; Sunday School Junior Superintendent, Member of the Youth Choir, and Junior Usher Board. Elder McLamb also served 2 years as President of the Newburgh N.A.A.C.P. Youth Counsel. He was called into the ministry in the summer of 2001 and preached his initial sermon on September 1, 2001. Just a little over a year later on November 3, 2002, Elder McLamb was ordained in the Western Assembly Disciples of Christ Church by Presiding Bishop Charles J. Williams Sr. In November of 2006, Bishop Williams appointed him as the Pastor of Bentonville Disciples of Christ Church in Four Oaks, NC, where he has been the shepherd over the last 9 years. He is married to First Lady Tonya Mclamb and together they have 3 children, Jhaelyn, Martavis and Ahmoni. Not only does Elder Mclamb preach and teach to anyone who is a willing vessel; he also has a heart for the youth. Most importantly, he is a compassionate, strong warrior on the battlefield for the Lord! Elder Mclamb spends countless hours to insure that today’s youth are equipped and ready to encounter the world with a Godly mindset. In addition, Pastor Deron recognizes the needs of his congregation and is always willing to lend a helping hand or ear to those who are in need! In his spare time, he loves watching and playing sports, fishing, playing scrabble and other board games, bowling, preaching and teaching the Word of God and helping to train and mentor today’s youth. Elder McLamb is currently pursuing a Masters of Biblical Studies, from Safe Haven Interdenominational Bible Training Institute. Upon completion of his Masters, he hopes to enroll in their Doctoral program. His future aspiration is to author his own book. .

We are truly grateful for his leadership over the years and can never repay him for all he has done for our church community.
