ABC11 meteorologist Don Schwenneker says the winter weather advisory will be a combination of rain, freezing rain and sleet. The rain will change to freezing rain and sleet from north to south in the afternoon, and then end this evening. Some snowflakes may mix in this evening, especially north of the Triangle.

“Temperatures during the day today will fall through the 40s in the morning and then through the 30s in the afternoon before plummeting to the teens by late tonight,” ABC11 meteorologist Don Schwenneker said.

The National Weather Service has extended a winter weather advisory to include much of Central North Carolina until early Tuesday.
