Yesterday’s headlines in the local N&O newspaper read “Wrongly imprisoned men to get $12M.”  Greg Taylor spent 17years in prison and Floyd Brown was held in Dorthea Dix mental facility for 14years for crimes they did not commit.

Yesterday evening around 5:30pm another man was exonerated, Larry Lamb was released after 20 years in prison for the fatal shooting of Leamon Grady in 1987. A crime he did not commit.

After the key witness came forward and confessed to lying on the stand, the Duplin County District Attorney’s Office dropped the charges against Lamb, clearing the way for his release.

Lamb was seen hugging family and friends as he walked out of the jail.  He says “For the last 20-plus years, I’ve been an innocent man. It’s been a struggle.” “It’s a hard life in the penitentiary, especially knowing that you are innocent.”
