The four young girls that were killed during the 1963 church bombing in Alabama will be honored with the Congressional Gold Medal, one of the country’s highest civilian honors.
The House of Representatives voted last Wednesday to honor , 14; Denise McNair, 11; Carole Robertson, 14; and Cynthia Wesley, 14. The girls were killed by a bomb that struck the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham on Sunday Sept. 15, 1963.
