McCrory had led significantly in every poll since Dalton won the Democratic primary in May. He also recently picked up endorsements of the newspapers in Charlotte, Greensboro, Winston-Salem and other cities. McCrory’s 2012 campaign strategy has centered around what he calls “The Carolina Comeback,” bringing new jobs to the state and changing what he describes as a broken state government.
