Sunday May 1, 2011, President Barack Obama announced that Osama Bin Laden, the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks on the United States is dead.

President obama announed that the United States conducted an operation that killed Osama Bin Laden, the leader of Al Qaeda, in a compound in Pakistan. President Obama stated that killing or capturing of Osama Bin Laden was the top priority of the war against Al Qaeda.

President Obama stated that last week he authorized an operation to get Osama Bin Laden and bring him to justice. He stated that on Sunday, May 1, 2011, the United States launched a targeted operation against the compound in Pakistan.

He stated that no Americans were harmed, the U.S. took care to avoid civilian casualties and after a firefight, killed Osama Bin Laden and took custody of his body. President Obama stated that the death of Bin Laden marks the most significant achievement to date in our nation’s effort to defeat Al Qaeda and that justice has been done. He stated that the United States is not at war against Islam.
