Dinosaur License Plates Now Available for NC Residents
The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences has officially launched its dinosaur-themed license plate after receiving over 500 preorders — the minimum required to begin production. First announced in March, the plate design features the skeleton of the Acrocanthosaurus, famously nicknamed the “Terror of the South.”
Each plate costs $30 through the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles, with $20 from every purchase going directly to the Friends of the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences, a nonprofit that supports the museum’s programs and initiatives.
Those who preordered should expect to receive their plates by mail within three months. For others interested, the plates will soon be available for order through the DMV’s online portal.
