Smithfield officials said the one man died Saturday morning in a house fire.
The fire was reported at 5:05 a.m. and happened at a house on 5th Street near the Smithfield Police Department.
According to Smithfield’s Fire Chief John Blanton crews received a call for a fire with someone trapped inside the home.
