This nomination comes with great love as we nominate our pastor, Dr. Louie Boykin. He has been in the ministry over 15 years. In July, 2012, his steps were ordered by God and he became pastor of Baldwin Branch Missionary Baptist Church. Over 55 people were saved and joined our church family in his first year. To date our membership has increased to over 100 new members. He is a magnanimous preacher with a heart of gold. We have seen him work the altar praying for people until beads of sweat drip from his head. Numerous ministries have been birthed under his leadership. “From Our Table to Yours”, a food bank for families in need, is the most recent. Currently, it is feeding over 50 families monthly. He’s the founder and president of Bladen County College of Theology and also serves on the Prison Ministry Board for Sampson County and a chaplain at local hospitals. Rev. Boykin has had tragedies in his life. For example, he survived the dramatic passing of eleven family members in 2011, including his youngest sister and mother. He uses this testimony to constantly reassure us that God will never forsake us.
In addition, he is a drop-out prevention coordinator for Clinton High School, where he encourages students to get a high school education. He’s matriculated through Sampson Community College, Fayetteville State University, Shaw Divinity School, Mount Olive College, Duke Divinity School and the NC Theological Seminary all of which lead to the receipt of his Doctorate of Divinity degree.
He is married to the former Katrina Peele and they have one daughter, Whitney.
