The jury is seated and the trial of Laurence Lovette, one of the men charged with killing former UNC student body president Eve Carson in March 2008 officially gets under way Wednesday morning.

It took more than a week for attorneys to seat jurors in a case it seems everyone in Orange County knows about. Due to extensive pre-trial publicity, each juror was interviewed privately.

Authorities say Laurence Lovette and Demario Atwater kidnapped Eve Carson at random around her off-campus home near the UNC Chapel Hill campus. Investigators say they forced her to withdraw money from her ATM before shooting her five times.

Lovette has pleaded not guilty to Carson’s murder.
