Outraged over the violent shooting of Laquan McDonald by a white Chicago police officer, protesters on Tuesday took to the streets and social media to condemn what appears to be nothing short of an execution.
Officials in Chicago have released the dash-cam video footage of Laquan McDonald's shooting death at the hands of city police Officer Jason Van Dyke from October 2014. The video was released a day ahead of the court-ordered deadline and on the same day Van Dyke turned himself in to authorities.
Police officer Jason Van Dyke, who is White, was charged with first-degree murder Tuesday morning and "will be the first on-duty Chicago police officer to be charged with that crime," the report says.
