A small plane landed on the shoulder of Interstate 540 in north Raleigh Tuesday morning just before 9am. Not much is known at this time and it’s unclear if anyone was injured in the incident. You will soon be able move through Raleigh and surrounding areas connected to I-540 a little quicker. The State DOT says it will increase the speed limit to 70mph between Hwy 70 and U.S. Highway 64/264 within the next week. The decision was based on a review of current speeds, crash data and road characteristics.
