A spokesman for Speaker Thom Tillis is confirming that a House bill on voter identification likely will include IDs such as expired drivers’ licenses for older people and those that colleges issue for students.

The North Carolina Utilities Commission could decide whether your energy bill will be going up. A hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. The commission will have the final say on a 5.7 percent rate hike for Progress Energy customers.
