Our founder (Urban One/Radio One) Cathy Hughes will have a street in her hometown named after her. Today’s street naming event is part of a two day event in Omaha and the street that Mrs. Hughes grew up on will be named in her honor.
Mrs. Hughes founded the media company Radio One (now known as Urban One), and when the company went public in 1999, she became the first African-American woman to head a publicly traded corporation.
Urban One — the nation’s largest distributer of Urban – black radio, TV and digital programming.
