Thursday is another warm, muggy morning however it will bloom into one of the hottest days of the week with the heat index climbing into triple digits.  Counties located to the east and south of the Triangle are under a heat advisory from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. as temperatures could reach a high of 96 to 99 degrees. But stifling humidity will make it feel more like 105 to 109 degrees in many places.

According to WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner “That’s plenty hot, and still, if you’re sensitive to heat, that’s going to put you in the danger zone as well. I would just go ahead and almost consider the entire viewing area to be dangerously hot this afternoon.”

Gardner said high pressure will keep most of Thursday dry, though some small storms could pop up in the afternoon. On Friday and over the weekend another storm front moving in the the northwest will increase the chance of rain.

“As this front gets a little closer to us our chance for thunderstorms goes up a little bit tomorrow, and then it goes up a lot more for Saturday and Sunday,” Gardner said.
