People don’t want pennies, they walk by them on the street, they are not accepted in any vending machine and it’s costing more to make them than they are worth.

There are roughly 240 billion pennies in the economy, but an estimated, two-thirds of the pennies are not in circulation.   How many to you have stashed away in a drawer or in jars?

It now actually costs 1.4 cents to make each penny, which are mostly made out of zinc, not copper.
