We are excited to bring to you the first extended look at ‘The Young Messiah‘.

Earlier in the fall we showed the first trailer. Now we will show you the extended look. After you see it, tell us what you think. The film Tells the story of Jesus Christ at age seven as he and his family depart Egypt to return home to Nazareth.  The film is told from his childhood perspective, it follows young Jesus as he grows into his religious identity.

The marketing tagline is ‘Before he was the savior he was a child.’

Anne Rice says of this project:

‘I am so grateful for this film. I’ve seen it and it is magnificent. It is faithful to Scripture, and faithful to all my hopes as I wrote the novel. I am overcome truly with gratitude.’

The movie is based on the book ‘Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt’ written by famed author Anne Rice. In  2005 it was named Book of the Year on the basis of its “creativity, its unique spin on one of the world’s most important religious figures, and for its impact on Christians and other readers” Janet Maslin of The New York Times said ‘The restraint and prayerful beauty of Christ the Lord is apt to surprise Rice’s normal readers and attract new ones.’ Lev Grossman of Time said ‘This is in fact an intensely literal historical, reverent treatment of a year in the life of Jesus, written in simple, sedate language.’

I read the book and found that it was both a loving and prayerful  look at what may have been the Savior’s early days.
