Tis the season to be jolly and unfortunately there some people that prey on us suspected people that are doing holiday shopping for their family and friends. There are just a few days left before Christmas and many will be doing some last minute shopping.

Below are some holiday shopping safety tips that I recommend. While your scrambling to do your last minute shopping, remember that Jesus is the reason for the season.

Holiday shopping safety tips.

  • Be sure to Park in a well lit area.
  • Always lock your car doors.
  • Put your valuables in the trunk of your car so they are not visible. The best practice is to put your purse and other valuables in your trunk prior to arriving at the shopping center, mall, or other parking area.
  • When returning to your car, have your keys out and ready to unlock the doors.
  • Be on the lookout and be aware of your surroundings and people around you. Trust your instincts, if you feel uncomfortable get away.
  • Shop with a friend or family member.
  • If possible do not leave the store alone. Walk with friends, other shoppers, or security.
  • Make sure you have your cell phone with you at all times.
  • Tell some one in your family or a friend where you are going and when you will return.
  • Don’t overwhelm yourself with packages while shopping.
  • Only make online purchases from trusted, secure websites. Look for “https” in the web address to verify security.
  • Don’t carry large amounts of cash or un needed credit cards.
  • If you carry a purse, keep  it close to your body, place the strap over your shoulder and not around your neck.
