The densely populated Houston area has gotten hit with 5 to 8 inches of rain in less than a day.  As of Tuesday morning over 80,000 people are without power in the area.  Houston’s fire department received 150 requests for people needing assistance in just two hours of the storm.

Roads that are often traveled have become ponds and any additional rainfall could flood more streets and homes.  The National Weather Service released a statement acknowledging the severity of the storm which said:

“This continues to be an extremely dangerous and life-threatening situation.  Do not attempt to travel unless you are fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.”

As a result of this storm 6 people have been reported dead and 12 are missing.  According to different meteorologists Louisiana will be the next state to be attacked by Mother Nature. Louisiana is predicted to receive 4 to 6 inches of rain over the next few days.
