Looking for employment?  Uber is partnering with Triangle nonprofits such as El Centro Hispano, The Institute of Economic Development for North Carolina, Downtown Raleigh Alliance and Jobs for Life, to provide those who are interested with skills training and entrepreneurial opportunities.

LaToya King, director of operations for Jobs for Life had this to say about the partnership:

“As Jobs for Life is committed to seeing all people in NC and beyond experience the dignity of work, we are excited about partnering with Uber in this unique initiative,”

Uber announced Thursday, that the goal is to recruit over 5,000 drivers across the North Carolina area.  This is just step 1 of Uber’s elaborate yearlong plan to have 50,000 Uber drivers in urban communities throughout the entire EastCoast. The company didn’t specifically say what kind of training it would provide but the taxi app that allows people to use their own cars, has already been criticized for not being required to have the same licensing, registration and insurance fees as taxi cab drivers.

This new initiative may add to those complaints about Uber being unfair competition.
