We have lots of sun and heat in the forecast today but over the last week or so we’ve had more than our share of rain and flooding.

Orange county was hit with alot more rain than some of our other counties, leaving many of their residents displaced because of flooding. Today those more than 150 residents, have a new place to go for assistance with the help of Red Cross and local government agancies.

Beginning Saturday, residents displaced by the flood can visit an assistance center at University Mall in Chapel Hill. The center is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays.

Officials say the center will provide a one-stop shop for flooding victims.
