A tornado that at some points measured two-miles wide ripped through Oklahoma weaving a path of death and destruction in its wake. When it was over, at least 24 people were dead, including nine children. Entire neighborhoods were flattened to rubble, cars were slammed together with such force that they created heaping hunks of medals. Monday’s storm followed a weekend in which an incredible rash of tornadoes which destroyed homes and tossed trees like sticks ripped through the Midwest. Those storms created baseball-sized hail, wind gusts and tornadoes in parts of the central Plains and Midwest.

According to CNN Meteorologist Indra Peterson, “Today could be potentially as dangerous as yesterday,” while pointing to a wide swath of the country spanning from Texas to Michigan. “We’re talking about 500,000 square miles under the gun for severe weather.”
