Just before the Susan G. Komen race for the Cure on Sunday morning in Winston Salem, a public safety officer reported  suspicious luggage by a trash can.

WFMY-TV in Greensboro reported that the piece of luggage was found near the finish line and police evacuated some 2,000 to 3,000 people.

After a search from the Winston-Salem Police Department’s Hazardous Device Disposal team, it was determined the luggage was empty and the race continued later.

It seems that everyone is on watch because of the Boston Marathon bombings and it’s sad if someone placed this luggage to see if anyone would recognize it as a threat.
