It was recently reported that the towns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro would become one.
According to the website chapelboro.com, the two towns, which have been separate entities for more than a century, were going to change this week—as the Town Council and the Board of Aldermen will officially vote to merge the two towns into one.
The merger would become official when the Chapel Hill Town Council and the Carrboro Board of Aldermen take a formal vote. Once the vote was made, Chapel Hill and Carrboro would become a single municipality.

It was all a joke!
There was no vote and there was no intention of creating one municipality!
