Pope Benedict XVI has retired and now the search is on for a new Pope.

Vatican press officials announced that the conclave is set to start Tuesday to elect new pope.

How It’s Done:

The date for the conclave, the meeting at which the pope is elected, is set by the College of Cardinals. Once it begins, the cardinal electors — those under the age of 80 — meet in the Sistine Chapel, sleep in special apartments within Vatican City and have no contact with the outside world.
