The community of Moore County is mourning the loss of a well-known county consultant and recently appointed interim county manager.
James Westbrook Jr. was killed Tuesday night off of Vass-Carthage Road in Carthage when his car struck a tractor-trailer. Westbrook graduated from UNC Chapel Hill and his colleagues in Moore County say they had enormous respect for him.
Westbrook leaves behind his wife and son. Funeral arrangements have not yet been determined. Westbrook had also served in leadership roles in Cary, Fayetteville and Asheville.
