Durham police announced Monday that the 13-year-girl who was shot this past Friday evening has died.
The shooting happened about 6 p.m. inside a home on Faucette Avenue. The teenaged girl was identified as Emily Lopez. She was taken to DukeUniversityHospital with critical injuries. Friday Durham police charged a 15-year-old boy in connection with the shooting crime. The boy, a relative of the victim, was charged through a juvenile petition with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.
The boy was being held in a WakeCounty juvenile facility. Police haven’t disclosed how the two are related. The shooting is still under investigation.
