Democrats have won a hard-fought battle against mandatory identification in order to vote.  A judge blocked the requirement from going into effect on Election Day.  Opponents argued it would prevent the elderly and minorities from voting and was a ploy to defeat President Obama.

The judge  added that the blocked order from mandatory ID was for this election time but would likely go into effect next year.
