Fantasia Barrino will talk about how she got sidetracked financially in the first episode of a VH1 reality series about her life. Barrino was the 2004 “American Idol” winner.

The show, “Fantasia for Real” debuts tonight at 10 p.m. The Charlotte Observer reported that the 25 year-old singer acknowledges that her extended family of six can be a financial burden.

Barrino had financial problems after moving from High Point to Charlotte – despite a successful autobiography, a made-for-TV movie, a Broadway role in “The Color Purple” and a platinum album.

The newspaper reported liens were filed against her first home in Charlotte over unpaid homeowner association fees and creditors sued for her $240,000 Mercedes.

Her second home was saved from auction after fees were paid on back taxes in 2009.
