Many families hit hard by the economy and the cold are having to find creative ways to stay warm. Families with no heat are turning to unsafe alternatives like running their dryers, or their ovens in order to keep warm during this winter spell. Sylvia Wiggins, director of the Helping Hand Mission, says many people are looking for ways to heat their homes. With donations The Helping Hand Mission has been able to help those in need. The mission says it is still gladly accepting donations at their Raleigh site.
