A federal judge ruled the trial of a man accused of killing UNC Chapel Hill Student Body President Eve Carson will not move out of state. Demario Atwater is charged with kidnapping, robbing and killing Carson in March 2008. Because of pre-trial publicity, his attorneys requested that the trial be moved out of state. But a federal prosecutor argued that “it seems highly likely” that 12 people could be found to judge the facts. If convicted, he could face the death penalty.
