In Raleigh current resident are on an “honor system” of whether they are disabled to place their garbage can on the curb weekly. The city’s Need Assistance Program allows those who are disabled or anyone 65 and older and exemption from bringing their trash cans to the curb. The city is hoping that no one will take advantage of the system, however new residents will be asked to provide a document of age or disability.
