Federal officials are here in North Carolina today to vote on a series of urgent safety recommendations following a deadly explosion at a Slim Jim snack factory last year. The U.S. Chemical Safety Board was expected to vote on the proposal last night. It recommends that national and international safety codes be changed to more strongly control gas-line purging. Last year that the board initially voted down a similar proposal. As you remember, last years explosion at the ConAgra Foods Inc. plant killed four people and injured dozens.
