“Echoes of Emancipation” will delve into the rich history and significance of Juneteenth. This presentation will highlight the journey towards emancipation, showcasing powerful narratives of freedom in North Carolina.

The speaker, originally from Durham, Khadija McNair has a strong background in historical research, historical interpretation, and community engagement. She has worked for cultural and historical institutions for the State of North Carolina for over 8 years and now serves as the Freedom Park Manager for the North Carolina African American Heritage Commission. In addition, McNair is an instructor of History at North Carolina Central University.
