It’s time to leave when:
1. There is abuse involved. Whether it’s physical, sexual or emotional abuse, that is a clear sign that the relationship needs to end. Abusers nearly always escalate the abuse. It’s a vicious cycle that traps the victim into uncertainty, low self esteem and an inability to trust his or her own judgment. Unfortunately, this is usually when the relationship continues long after it should have ended.
2. You’ve grown apart and neither of you wants to work on improving the relationship. This one’s fairly simple. You can usually end the relationship amicably with a no-fault divorce. Many times, couples stay together long after the relationship is over for the sake of the children. You’re not doing anyone any favors by doing that. Studies have shown that kids need one present, loving person in their lives to grow into emotionally stable adults. They don’t need an intact nuclear family if it’s not a happy one.
3. You have serious problems- usually around lacking trust- and one or both of you are unwilling to work on the issues at hand. In order to heal these kinds of problems, most people need professional help. Seeing a therapist or a life coach to help you heal is a sign of strength, not weakness. Just understand that if you don’t want to heal them during this particular relationship, they will surely resurface in your next one.

Romans 15:2-3 tells us, “Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to his edification. For even Christ did not please Himself…” Who is your closest neighbor? Your husband.

How can you edify (build, improve) your mate and thereby enhance his self-worth? By discovering–and doing–what pleases him.

If you are creative, pleasing your mate may be a natural part of your personality. But a less creative person may need some coaching in becoming a partner pleaser. And all of us need an occasional cue card to remind us to reach out. Here are a few ideas:

1. Write him a letter and send it to his office, or put a love note in his lunchbox or briefcase.

2. Prepare his favorite meal.

3. Arrange an evening out for just the two of you.

Shocking! 3,000 Women Forced Into Marriage In The U.S.

A new survey of immigrant and women’s service providers claim that 3,000 women were forced into marriage in the past two years, including 300 in New York state.

Often times these marriages involve underage girls who were forced into marriage by their parents.

Some city teens fly to their parents’ homeland for what they think is a vacation and wind up stuck in a marriage against their will. Others face beatings or worse if they refuse a wedding here – sometimes by parents who stand to gain financially by the union.

One of Pyati’s clients, a girl from a West African family, was 15 when she became a bride by proxy. Her father arranged the marriage while visiting his homeland, while she was back in their New York apartment. When the time came to get on a plane, she said no.

“She refused and refused and suffered physical violence in the home,” Pyati said.

Finally, she agreed to move to Georgia and become the wife of a West African man there, Pyati said. After being beaten, she fled. She was 17 and pregnant.

On the red carpet of Self magazine’s 4th Annual Women Doing Good Awards in NYC, the diva shared the juicy details of their wedding plans.
“I’ve always had a [wedding] date! Just haven’t told anybody! So it’s set!” she said, adding that she’s very excited.
“I mean, every girl is!” Jennifer tells In Touch. “I’ve been through a lot in my life and I’m just trying to take it one step at a time. I’m one of those girls like, ‘Okay, let me get used to this right here! Give me a second!’”

She’s got the dress, but she hasn’t decided if she wants a big or a small wedding. In fact she admitted she’s indecisive about it all.
“See, that’s what I’m trying to decide!” Jennifer laughed. “One minute I want the biggest wedding ever, and the next second I’m like – I’m not sure if I want big or small, or if it’s just family.” While the wedding plans are in motion, she’s also joining Will.i.am to mentor talented kids on newest television series, “Major & Minors.” The show, which will premiere Friday Sept. 23rd, will follow 12 kids who perform and compete for a recording deal with Boardwalk Records/RCA Records.

Pat Robertson Advises Man To Divorce Wife With Alzheimer’s

Host of the Christian program 700 Club, Pat Robertson tells man that “he should divorce wife with alzheimer’s and start over again.”

A viewer shared his story about his friend saying: ” “My friend has gotten bitter at God for allowing his wife to be in that condition, and now he’s started seeing another woman. He says that he should be allowed to see other people because his wife as he knows her is gone.”

Pat sided with the friend saying that he should instead divorce his wife suffering with Alzheimer’s before seeing another woman.

Pat also said: ”I know it sounds cruel but if he’s going to do something he should divorce her and start all over again,” he said, “[and] make sure she has custodial care and somebody looking after her.”

However, his co-host argued about marriage vows being “for better, for worse”…. “til death do part.”

Pat stated, that suffering from Alzheimer’s is a kind of death.”

Group Wants Lawmakes To Support Marriage = 1 Man + 1 Woman

A conservative Christian group is running ads urging listeners to ask certain lawmakers to support amendment.

The group Family Research Council Action has rolled out commercials to 20 different radio stations which will begin Wednesday and air through Monday which targets specific lawmakers to ban gay marriage.

The group’s Vice President is also asking listeners to attend a rally on Monday morning in Raleigh.

There comes a time in every marriage when one or both partners feel like they’ve hit a roadblock and don’t know how to get around it. Whether you and your spouse are facing a small bump in the road or a big one, it’s not too late to get back on track. Consider these nine steps to start healing your relationship and building a healthier, happier marriage.

1. Keep it real

Relationships are of course never as perfect as a Hollywood movie or your favorite pop song. After the honeymoon is over, couples have to face the day-to-day grind. Keep your expectations realistic, accept your partner for himself or herself, and take life’s inevitable changes as they come.

2. Don’t stop dating

It’s easy to get stuck in a rut, especially after you have kids. Take time to escape the routine and go on a date with your spouse. Once a week (or at least on a regular basis), you should arrange for a sitter, make a reservation at your favorite restaurant, and have a great night out on the town.

Friendship and communication are key to a solid marriage. It is important to talk with each other and be each other’s best friend. This type of closeness allows you to build a solid foundation in your relationship and weather the inevitable storms.

Many people find it difficult to trust. Past hurts and disappointments may have left scars. Don’t let old wounds get in the way of your current partnership. When issues arise, be willing to work through them and forgive.

If you’re the type who attracts a lot of friends of the opposite sex, you may want to consider letting go of those relationships after you’re married. Marriage counselors and coaches believe that opposite-sex friendships are risky. Instead, try to find other married couples who share common interests.

6. Time it out for friends

You don’t have to cut off all of your outside relationships, but limit time with friends. An occasional boys’ or girls’ night out is fine, but too much time away from your spouse can lead to problems at home.

7. Make time for intimacy

It’s common for work and family pressures to put a damper on your love life. Willard F. Harley, Jr., Ph.D., suggests that couples should give their spouse undivided attention a minimum of 15 hours each week. 8. Kick those bad habits

Couples that find themselves criticizing, blaming complaining, nagging, threatening, punishing, or bribing can find their love life in a serious rut.

9. Choose your battles

As they say, don’t sweat the small stuff. Betsy Sansby, MS, suggests that couples try her S.T.O.P. method. She points out that when people are sad or angry, they don’t think straight.

During a conflict, stop and tell your partner you need a break. Time out and separate from him or her for about 30-60 minutes. Own your part, calm yourself down, and analyze your behavior. Offer a hug, kiss, or an agreement after the dust settles.
