Shannon Crawley, a former Guilford Metro 911 dispatcher was found guilty of killing Denita Smith, a NCCU graduate student on Jan. 4, 2007.  After over a 2 week trial and about 7 hours of deliberation, jurors found Shannon Crawley guilty of 1st degree murder.  Judge Stephens sentenced Crawley, a mother of two, to life in prison without parole.  Crawley contended that she had a relationship with  Jermeir Stroud, fiance of Smith, and that  he stalked her and killed Smith.  Crawley’s lawyer Holmes says he plans to appeal the verdict.
