A deal with CBS TV Distribution would mark a reunion for the company and Hall. His syndicated late-night Arsenio Hall Show, which ran from 1989 to 1994, was produced by CBS TV Distribution predecessor Paramount Domestic TV.

First Lady Michelle Obama weighed in on recent revelations about her husband’s past drug use on Tuesday, acknowledging that President Obama realized at a young age that he “could do more with his life.”

During an appearance on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” to promote her new cookbook, the First Lady was asked by host Jon Stewart about the president’s high school and college years. An excerpt released last week from David Maraniss’s forthcoming biography of the president contained details about Obama’s marijuana use as a teenager. Stewart joked that the stories about the president as a young man resembled the “script of a Cheech and Chong movie.”

While the First Lady didn’t directly address the claims in Maraniss’ book, she did say that her husband underwent a change during his college years.

“By the time he was in college, like so many young people, he realized that he could do more with his life,” Obama told Stewart. “He had a mother that was always saying you’re so gifted, you’re so talented, slap him on the head, ‘get yourself together.’”

She continued: “When he lost his father, that was one of those click-in moments. And he really buckled down, he transferred schools, went to Columbia, and thought about how to use his life to the fullest.”

Obama also commented on her relationship with Vice President Joe Biden, who Stewart joked was like an uncle who brings guns to family events.

“I love Joe,” Obama said. “He’s a great vice president and he’s a great friend. My kids hang around him and I’m good with it.”

Tuesday marked Obama’s first appearance on “The Daily Show” since becoming First Lady. Her last stop was in 2008, when she spoke with Stewart in the final month of her husband’s presidential campaign.

Minister Louis Farrakhan recently responded to President Obama’s endorsement of gay marriage calling him “the first president that sanctioned what the scriptures forbid,” according to a video posted by the Nation of Islam’s, Finalcall.com

During an address at the California Convention Center on Sunday, the Nation of Islam leader also ridiculed the media for its portrayal of Obama after the announcement, and chastised politicians and clergy for hypocritically supporting gay marriage despite the fact that the Bible forbids it, reports the Huffington Post.

The defense has rested  in the trial of Jason Williford, who charged with the 2010 rape and murder of N.C. State Board of Education member Kathy Taft.

Defense lawyers have not tried to deny Williford killed Taft. Instead, they’re trying to keep him off death row by trying to prove the crime was not premeditated – a requirement required for the death penalty under North Carolina law.

The real-life Hannibal Lecter was shot to death Saturday in one of Florida’s most bizarre crimes.

His victim, an unidentified homeless man, was clinging to life at a Miami hospital Monday.

His face was reported to be barely identifiable as that of a human.

Eugene’s criminal record showed he was arrested several times in the last few years, but none involved a violent crime. The only exception was when he was 16, when he was slapped with a battery charge.

A 98-page opinion was issued last week by a Tennessee federal judge that dismissed a lawsuit from Grammy-winning singer Sam Moore against The Weinstein Company over the 2008 film, “Soul Men,” starring Samuel L. Jackson and Bernie Mac. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Moore brought the lawsuit in 2009 alleging that the film about two African-American soul singers was a thinly-veiled rip-off of his part in the popular Memphis Soul singing duo Sam & Dave, whose hits included the 1967 song “Soul Man.”

The case became contentious even by Hollywood brass-knuckle standards and featured such peculiarities as Jackson testifying in a deposition that he often doesn’t watch the documentary films he’s agreed to voice. The case also touched upon so many burning legal controversies in entertainment law, it could easily serve as a primer for anyone considering the field.

Moore said his publicity rights were violated because the film was allegedly too similar to his career. Further, he alleged he’s referred to as “Sam Moore ‘The Legendary Soul Man’” and that the film violated his trademarks. He also argued that the film’s soundtrack was passed off as a project he endorsed and constituted unfair competition to his own musical works. And Moore believed that because the film was close enough to his life experiences, the divergences (the characters swear, hurl racial epithets, brandish weapons, etc.) put him in a false light.

That bumps Disney’s “The Avengers” into second-place after three weekends on top. “The Avengers” took in $37 million over the three days to push its domestic total to $514 million and become only the fourth movie ever to top half a billion dollars.

Universal’s “Battleship” was No. 3 in its second weekend with $10.8 million, raising its domestic earnings to $44.3 million. Paramount’s comedy “The Dictator” took in $9.6 million to finish fourth in its second weekend and lift its total to $41.5 million.

The Warner Bros. horror tale “Chernobyl Diaries” opened at No. 5 with $8 million. “Men in Black 3″ launched with a bit more cash than its two previous movies, which both had opening weekends of just above $50 million.

But the original “Men in Black” debuted in 1997 and “Men in Black II” premiered in 2002, when admission prices were much lower than today’s. That means “Men in Black 3″ sold fewer tickets than the previous installments.

“Men in Black 3″ reunites Smith’s Agent J and Tommy Lee Jones’ Agent K as they battle a new alien menace that travels four decades back in time to do away with the younger Agent K (Josh Brolin).

As previously reported, Jamie Foxx stars as Django, a freed slave who treks across America with Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz), a German dentist turned bounty hunter. Together, they try to retrieve Django’s wife Broomhilda (Kerry Washington) from the charming but sadistic plantation owner Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his band of ruthless slavers. Principal photography began in California in November 2011, and followed in Wyoming in February and Louisiana in March. The film is scheduled to be released on Christmas day.
